Four-Way Test
Written in 1932 by Herbert J. Taylor (President, Rotary Club of Chicago, 1939-1940; Rotary International, 1954-1955) while facing his own business crisis during the midst of the Great Depression, Rotary's Four-Way Test was adopted by Rotary International in January of 1943.
Today, we still recognize the Four-Way Test as a hallmark and cornerstone of Rotary. We can, with pride of association, acknowledge the commitment to ethical guidelines established during what is nearly universally recognized as the lowest economic time in our country.
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and better FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
These four simple — yet profound — questions serve as the guideposts by which each and every Rotarian worldwide agrees to conduct their affairs.
