Chaired by Rotarian, Mike Homan, the Rotary Club of Tulsa's New Generations Service Avenue focuses projects that support the fundamental needs of young people: health, human values, education and self development.

The Rotary Club of Tulsa is actively involved in a wide range of youth programs.

 

CAMP ENTERPRISE

An intensive four-day seminar/camp to explore fundamental challenges, opportunities and obligations of the free enterprise system, the Camp Enterprise Committee brings together about 100 of the Tulsa area's outstanding high school juniors. Participation on the committee provides an opportunity to invest in our future potential leaders.

Plans and implements an annual competition with a division for high school juniors/seniors and a separate division for undergraduate college students for outstanding performance in Piano, Orchestral Instruments, Brass Instruments and Vocal. Crescendo Music Awards provides an opportunity for you to invest in the continued development of outstanding musical talent.

immunization

Serves as a support group representing the Rotary Club of Tulsa in a multi-organizational coalition to promote immunization of children. A flu vaccine clinic is also conducted for the elderly, as possible. Service on this committee provides an opportunity to assist in the prevention of communicable diseases in our children and elderly.

Time Commitment: one month, March-April

Interact is Rotary International's service club for young people ages 14 to 18. Interact committee members provide support and guidance for the self-governing and self-supporting club which meets monthly. Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill.

Celia Clinton Elementary has seen marked improvement in its students through the direct efforts of Rotarians providing mentoring, clothing, food, financial support and countless volunteer hours. It also provides support to Preschool Childhood Centers in the neighborhood of Celia Clinton.

The Rotaract Steering Committee provides leadership and resources to sponsor a new community-based Rotaract club in Tulsa. With a membership of young professionals between 18 to 30 years olds, the Tulsa Rotaract club will meet twice a month for programs and conduct two annual service projects--one local and one international. Rotaract clubs organize a variety of projects and activities, depending primarily on the interests of the club members. However, within the Rotaract program, all clubs undertake three types of activities in varying degrees: professional development, leadership development and service projects

Plans and oversees this cooperative youth intervention program involving the local Fraternal Order of Police, the Rotary Club of Tulsa and Wal-Mart. At-risk youth are selected to participate in a Christmas shopping trip for their families, including wrapping of gifts, and sharing lunch with police officers and Rotarians. A fun and heart-warming holiday experience!

Time Commitment: October through early December

Coordinates the Club's youth activites. Two specific projects include conducting the Rotary Club of Tulsa's "Four-Way Test" Speech Contest which offers an opportunity for students to compete at the local level for a $500 award. The winner then competes at the district level for the opportunity to win a $1,000 grant from the District. Additionally, the Committee selects students to participate in the District's Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp.

Time Commitment: September through early February
